Registration with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC)
The ACNC endeavours to be user-friendly. If difficulties arise, it is often because of the complexity of the law and challenges in presenting the objects of the charity in a manner and using terminology which is legally compliant.
To obtain registration, you need to show that you are established for a charitable purpose and how your proposed activities will achieve that purpose. There are also often other conditions which must also be satisfied for a particular category of charitable purpose.
Neumann & Turnour Lawyers has extensive experience in working with the ACNC since its inception and in dealing with its predecessor team within the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). We can help you understand the law and ensure that when you apply for registration you are compliant.
